damaging the wheel hub.

I damaged the steering rack and strut of my car and was wondering could the hub be damaged as well.

i was under the impression that the hub was essentially a lump of cast metal so therefore unlikely to damage easily.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Dan

Yes, of course you can damage them... they are lumps of metal... therefore they bend, distort and wear out if subject to forces beyond their design limit....

If you put it under sudden shock load you could easily crack a bearing race or sheer a securing bolt.... depends how the damage occured really... if in doubt... strip it totally appart and inspect properly...

If you have a damaged steering rack presumably from some accident, I would be very cautious of the steering arms on the hubs are fairly fragile and can crack off....
