Removing the ECU?

Can anyone give me some tips on removing the ECU?

It's in a metal casing held in a bracket. I can remove it from the bracket but to remove it from the casing I will need to unplug it to get to the screws at the back. How do you do this? :?:

Cheers.
James.

How to Get to the ECU

I have successfully removed the ECU.

To do this cut slots in both the anti-tamper shear bolt heads with a hack saw. Make sure your cuts are deep and straight. Get a good wide bladed screwdriver to undo them. They are fixed in with thread lock.

I used a ratchet bar with a screw driver attachment as it is easier to get to and you can apply more power to the screws.

I will be requiring the replacment bolts, so when I source them I'll pass on the VW part number.

If you are just removing the ECU from the bulk head, remove the wiper blads (Probably need a bearing puller) and then the plastic top that runs the width of the car. Under here you should be able to get to the snap fit fixings to press them in and remove the ECU. There are two and then a hock plate running along the bottom. Push out (towards the front of the car) and lift up.
