If i were to order a whole Gti headlight off of TPS, am i right in believing it would include everything bar the bit refered to as ballast. If so what is included in the ballast part?

I may be being abit thick here but what is TPS?.The ballast part will most likely just include the ballast, which is basically very simular to a transformer.
Have you managed to salvage any components from your old setup?,do you just need a replacement lense?.

You will receive the headlight only. No bulb, no ballast, no high beam, no rubber covers. It is just the headlight, with a sidelight bulb preinserted.
The ballast is the igniter and power supply for the bulb. It will have the connector for the bulb attached.

TPS is the Trade Parts Specialists. Its VWs direct trade supplier to garages and the like

my headlight still works, i have destroyed the lens as its cracked but still in place, the top of the headlight is missing and i can see down behind the lens, but i am 99% sure the damage is only to the front therefore i could just buy the TPS setup and place my remaining parts into it.
My concern is that i'll spend £200+ on something that wont solve my problem, but, as the TPS part is essentially a shell, with me still having the 'insides', i reckon i should be ok.

Buy a new headlight, and just transfer the D2S bulb, the H1 main beam bulb, and the ballast and all will be fine. Oh yes, dont forget the auto adjuster!
I had to replace both of mine as the adjusters were cracked, and they were generally worn out...was just a case of swapping the functional parts across

i suppose the quality is good but that hardly justifies taking advantage of the customer.
