Key transponder removal

I fitted the Rclick system to the car on the weekend and the Mrs got the key cut yesterday but the place couldn't get the transponder out of the old one. Anyone know how it comes out?

I literally just got a small flat head scredriver and pried it out took me about 5 mins to do it really carefully. Then when I put it in the new key I just spiced it in tesco quick drying super glue. I've dropped it a few times and it hasn't come loose
