Hi, a few months back i bought a stebel horn.

And after finally getting it installed, i love it!

Now its corroded to hell and wont work.

I took it back to halfords, with no papers, no id and no money. I was in and out with a new horn in a matter of seconds!

So, now the question is, how to i protect it from the same thing happening again.

I was thinking of sealing all the connections with vaseline, and then covering the horn in a tescos bag?

But, the back itself has holes and and is also degradable and i dont want a fan or any thing to catch the bag!, that and i dont want it to melt! lol

So before i get to work today, whats the best way?

I just replaced my horn with a new dual one. It is important to make sure that the horn is in the location behind the bumper where the bottom of the bumper protects it from the water splashing up from underneath.

I wrapped all connectors in duct tape so they will not get wet, no matter what. I did the same to the relay as well.

If in doubt, you can still use Valvoline tectyle spray which also prevents rust from forming.

why don't you just place the horn safely from water in the engine bay? you surely do not need to be a rocket scientist to extend the wires to where you need them. Whilst still using vaseline and tape fore the connectors wouldn't harm

I don't know how big is this horn but you may even try and hide it in the place where the wiper motor is placed (forgot what it's called hehe) just make sure it is not annoying to hear from the cabin

Ive put it right next to the battery, Nice and snug with a zip tie. Heres some pics.

Can you now tie that red cable to the existing wirelooms in several places to avoid rubbing and shorting somewhere down the line ...

Not sure how the horn works in your case as I thought it used a compressor of sorts - hence needing air?

Its got an air compressor inbuilt on the horn.

The cable i will try to tie it to some thing to it is not loosely hanging.
