As per the title really..

Our 6N2 has a broken o/s door mirror housing but the glass and luckily the colour coded back cover are in tact.

However the n/s has a cracked glass..

So here's what I'm thinking.. I just get a replacement electric mirror for the o/s in any colour as I can re-use the silver back casing, right?

And then take the intact glass from the o/s to replace the broken glass on the n/s?

Or are the mirror's not interchangable due to fitting?

I don't really want to fit a cheap ebay replacement stick on glass on the n/s. Also how can I tell if these mirrors are heated? Will I need a different glass for heated mirrors?

The car is a 1.4 16v SE (75bhp) in Satin Silver.

Any help would be appreciated.

Different size mirrors on each side - they are a different shape

All mk5 mirrors are heated, was a standard option.

Also, make sure you get the right size glass/mirror as there are three different sizes!

Quick update on this.

Managed to find a 6N2 being broken locally.. when I got there, both mirrors had defects.. BUT I got the pair for a reasonable sum and stripped both replacement and both original mirrors down and used the glass, casings and chassis from the set to make 2 excellent pairs in silver

I love it when a plan comes together..

Now just need to get the electric window switches replaced and complete the engine service.

wait a min... my mirrors are heated????!!!!!??!!!

Yup. they come on when the rear window heat is on!
