Hi all im new on here and was wondering if anybody could point me in the right direction. Have had my polo 2 weeks now and already had it remapped with a stage 1 revo but next on the agenda is a dump valve and filter! I would really like a induction kit which makes a nice roar and a dump vave with a piston type noise possibly the forge splitter! Does the heat from the engine make an induction kit a big no no? Any advice or reccomendations would be greatly recieved

get a diverter valve (forge 006 or 007) bacause a forge splitR releases his air into the atmosphere.
not ideal for 1.8T due to the MAF.
could get an error on the dash.
there are tuners who can remove the MAF, but not many.
also the turbo pics up a bit faster with a diverter.
don't wait to long, a standard DV can't handle the power for long when it's chipped
about the airfilter getting hot air, it's not a big difference for a turboengine.
it creates his own atmosphere and you have a intercooler that provides cold air.
hope it helps you

Thanks for that mate. Do you get any noise from the diverter valve or is it just an uprated one from standard? What is the best air filter to get i was thiking a 57i. thanks for the advice mate i have never had anything to do with vw in the past i have been a fiesta turbo owner for the past 5 years but thought it was about time i stopped living in the 90s and got something a bit more usable so vws are all new to me. Thanks again 4 advicve

i have also a open 57i K&N airfilter, and it's not chipped yet and i can hear the diverter valve blow the air back in the intake.
yours is chipped and has more pressure, i'm sure you will going to hear it, specially with open filter.
its different as the one you have standard, but looks about the same, only in metal.
also the springs are adjustable.
about the airfilter, i'm verry pleased with the K&N but imho i believe the BMC CDA (carbon dynamic box) is a bit better, but costs alot more also...
and because it's a box, you prob. won't hear the diverter valve as loud as an open air filter.
btw, old fiesta RS turbo's are great cars but its getting hard to find parts over here (couple of friends have tem)
hard to compare it with a 15 - 20 year yonger polo GTI wich has a bigger engine and a lot more potential.
hope you like youre GTI, like to see some pics and video's of it
happy to help

I have the K&N 57i kit and it sounds really nice, can really hear the intake roar when you give it some.
You will hear the standard dump valve noise just with the induction kit, but its not very loud. Can still hear it a bit inside the car but not much unless you push it.
I had a bailey dump valve on for a few days which sounded realy nice, but after I heared all the stuff about ECu problems ect I took it off and have ordered a forge Split-R from eBay which should be here on monday.
Apparently the Split-R has the best of both worlds, recircualtes to keep the ECU happy but still blows off some pressure to make the sound louder.. win win I suppose
Ill let you know how it sounds when it arrives and I fit it

The Splitter can be just plumb back if you dont want the blow off component.
The Blow off on the splitter is only 40%, its not really loud and does not sound like a Jap car BOV.

Thanks 4 the advice guys gunna treat myself next weekend i think. Let us know how you get on with your dump valve. Has your fuel consumption been affected with your k+n as i once had a vectra gsi with one on and lost about 5mpg. Im getting 35mpg round town and 42+ on a run and thats after a remap. Does that sound about right because i was gunna get a revo select switch so i could revert back to standard when the mrs uses it but cant remember what mpg i was getting before remap so not sure wether to bother. Thanks again for your help guys al put some pics up later

I think the reason your mpg went down when you fitted an induction kit is because you were flooring it more to hear the noise
