Could someone please advise exactly what I need to do to remove the engine cover on our 1.4MPI engine please?
I've undone the two bolts (hidden under the plastic covers) and on the back there seems to be a popper type thing, but its still firmly attached to pipes and a load of stuff underneath?
Whats the deal!?

Remove both bolts and pull it gently at the back - its a rubber popper, so its quite stiff. It wont break so dont be afraid!

i think he'll just be doing it to clean underneath it, or clean out the throttle body, if it's giving him problems.
no benefits from it though, only do it if you have problems. The cover acts as the air filter on these engines, too, so you can't leave it off.

dont quote me but the thin pipe is like a vacuum pipe and the thick one is the crankcase breather hose

I don't know why Ryan took the cover off, but it needs to stay on, as it's the air-filter, too.
Unless he's taken it off and replaced the air-filter? If it's the later, then the oil breather has to have it's own filter connected (a small one), and then the vacuum can be left disconnected, IIRC? Or clammed shut?
You can't run the engine with the cover off though, it could suck in all sorts of crap.
Dust and engines don't mix well..

It must have a one way valve fitted that only lets air into it. If you clamp it shut crank pressure will build up and if you leave it disconnected, oil will come out of it.

I needed that valve to do it before the breather filter because it is making annoying noises when I press or depress the throttle!! you know where I can source one pls alex? cos it needs to be a very low pressure non return valve
