What tyres next?

Hi All

Need a new set of tyres. Just weighing up the options on which to get.

Im not bothered by cost as such ... just want a set that will give me good value for money and decent handling in all conditions and little road noise!

Its fitted with 195/40/16 tyres and currently has Toyo Proxes T1Rs fitted. Due to the size, there arent as many options available as a 15, but none the less a few

The choices are as follows

Hankook Ventus S1 evo K107
Falken ZIEX ZE-912
Contintental Sport Contact 2
Pirelli P ZeroNero
Yoko S Drive
Toyo T1Rs
Toyo Proxes 4

So thats the choices :) I havent read good things about the Proxes 4 so probably would steer clear, but all opinions welcome

Cheers

I have run through 3 sets of yoko S drives on my car and they are really good... grip very well in all conditions and dont seem to wear out to quickly... I quite like the way the sidewalls look on the car as well..

I currently have a set of generic wee wee tyres on the car and it handles like an ironing board in the wet! As soon as they are spent I am going back to S-Drive!

Given the price of the S-Drive..... deffinately good value for money!

I have used Contintental Sport Contact 2 before,

Running Toyo proxies at the moment.

Although Contintental Sport Contact 2 are much superior in terms of grip (especially in the dry) these do wear very quickly compared to other tyres I've used. But saying that I would use these again if i could get them at a good price.

The Proxies are all right.. Just all right, wouldn't go for them again if I had the choice. Standard tyre in my opinion.

Ive ran both the s-drive yoko's and more recently changed to the toyo's t1r's. I personally think that the toyo's offer better grip, certainly at speed and off the mark. My yoko's lasted a long time though which is a bonus, don't know how long the toyo's will last because i've not long had them. I think the yoko's are slightly more expensive than the t1r's and I personally don't think there better having used both. Just for reference I got 4 t1r's fitted via the tyre-shopper website using discount code (MV1097) for £270 which is pretty good. My brother ran pirelli pzero nero on his 1.8t polo gti and he thought they were an excellent tyre in all conditions.

Heres a pis of the s-drive tyre wall (195/45/15)

I run the Toyo Proxies T1R's on my 16" wheels and Yoko S Drives on the 15" winter wheels and think both are great.
The Yoko's dont handle quite as well as the Toyo's but they last much longer and offer great value for money.

T1R's are great tyres though and very well priced compared to some brands.

Agree totally with above comment, both good tyres with pro's n con's to both but if price s taken into consideration as a factor then the toyo's are very hard to beat

Definately worth considering alex,i run them and strongly reccomend them.

Yeah that's true, I am running the same size as you Alex on my 16" RXII's and the 195/40/R16 are not easy to get hold of.

£350 fitted with new valves and balancing. Quite good when you break the cost down (£44 for fitting and £306 for the tyres working out to £76.50 a piece)
