Hi Guys, I really need some opinions on "cheap" coilovers (around the £160+ mark). I have been doing my research and have had mixed answers. Here is a set I found would they be worth fitting and do you think they would any good?

Put it this way, they will lower your car well for a good price.
The problem with cheapish coilovers is their prone to ceasing and sometimes the fixed damping settings are very harsh so you might be in for a rough ride (not that any coilovers are really comfy).
I would personally recommend saving up for a more recognized brand just for quality reassurance.
AP & Weitec Coilovers are very popular on here and they are very good quality, expect to pay £320-350 for either of them but that extra £100-200 is worth spending, especially on suspension.

Thanks thats helped me out alot in making a decision. AP at the moment looks like my best bet as there comming in at about £390 for a set. Or would I just be best lowering my Polo on normal springs?

As for lowering springs it really depends on what kind of drop your looking for, the eibach 50mm sportline springs offer good value for money at roughly £120-130 for the set but in reality they only lower the car 35-40mm which I personally dont think is enough, especially on a standard 6N2.
I think Coilovers would be your best bet and the AP's are a great option, good combination of quality & price.

How low do you want to go with your Polo?

Yeah, I totally agree that lowering springs especially on a standerd 6n2 would simply not be enough and wouldn't be as good as coilovers. I still think AP Coilovers are a bit to pricey. I think I might just go with the raceland ones .

As with most things you pay for what you get.Cheap coilovers are extremely hard and use cheaper materials to make them.Steel struts and steel collars etc hence why they tend to seize often.

Pretty much all of the cheap models are very simular and tend to just be all the same just rebranded.

I recently bought Weitec Hicon GT's they cost me £435 but were well worth spending the extra cash.Is suspension the kind of thing that is really worth skimping on?.

so out of the 3 cheap coilovers on ebay at the minute which would be your preffered choice? and why?

As bradley rightly mentioned above, the majority of cheap coilovers are all the same just re-branded

There isnt going to be any difference in any of the those 3 coilovers that you listed.

Suspension is hugely important, if your desperate to get it lowered then get springs for the time being and then save up for a good set of coilovers when you have the funds.

last set is not branded so most probably it is pure junk...

and no JOMs in the list, they are cheap but at least have some good feedback from some behind them

whilst the first 2 coilies ( rokkor and raceland) are said to be the same, not sure though

so from your experience would you say jom's are slightly better than racelands etc.

actually I have no experience in coilovers ... its only from what I have found on forums and so on. and as JOMs are actually a little pricier they should be better than those. coilies that are too cheap would give you bad times imo...
