Ticking noise from engine and judder

hello, ive got a problem on my polo, it was making a ticking noise today, think it might be one of the spark plugs thats loose because if you touch down on the first one on the left, it makes a tweeting type noise, the just drove it a little, the car was juddering and nearly stalled.
it is also quite loud if u put ur foot on the excelorator, and lets out a small amount of black smoke
any ideas what it could be/

Sounds like a misfire. Id say you have an arcing HT lead or a buggered spark. It sounds as though its the first on the left as you say by pressing it it makes a difference - get a new lead and change the sparks!

would smoke still come out if it was the park plugs?
the engine it making a loud noise also, dad reckons the engines gone....

99% sure not a blown engine mate almost 100% sure its the plugs.. whack them out and give them a clean, make sure there's no moisture or anything, maybe even replace them if its been a while. The juddering is usually caused by a misfire which is usually the plugs. Vw engines are rarley 'go' .

cheers for reply, started car today to double check - been busy at uni.
car was making a ticking/nocking noise.
and when the gas was pressed, there was plenty of thick smoke out the back.
dad took it garage for me an the guy reckons it might be a damaged valve, but it going to open it up and have a check for me.
