bonnet release

hi can anyone help. went to open my bonnet. pulled the release leaver and ping i think the cable has snapped. any ideas on how to open the bonnet without resorting to a can opener?

Mine done this took it to vw it was bout 50 I
think not sure now
I know it weren't too bad

cheers for that. wasn't the cable just a lug has snapped off the handle. superglue solved the problem.
