Another potential option for 9n/9n3 TDI FMICs?

I've been having having a discussion on TDIclub.

People who have done the 9n3 front conversion on 9ns say the crash bar needs to be changed. Is the 9n3 one a bit smaller as opposed to being bigger than the 9n one? If it fits under the 9n bumper, the Forge 9n3 GTi FMIC kit click would be almost plug and play. The SMIC is pretty much the same on the 9n3 GTi and the TDis, apart from the piping as the 1.8T motor had the intake manifold at the front of the engine unlike the TDIs.

Therefore, the bottom pipe on this FMIC should work fine, but the top one (long red silicone hose in the pic) will need a bit of work. I think a couple of silicone bends and couple of lengths of aluminium / steel pipe (under £30 worth of material), would make this plug and play. As long as the MAP sensor on the 1.8T and the TDI have the same shape, it's good to go, presuming the 9n3 crash bar fits under the 9n bumper.

Any opinions?

Ash :)

There would be more cutting involved as it sits lower than the Ibiza one ad the shape of the 9n bumper would mean the pipe is showing through the bumper. I spoke to forge about this one already which is y I put the Ibiza one it's not too hard

Ah, fair enough. Presumably though it'd work on a 9n3 right?
