what do i exactly need to do this?

and rear beam change it is as simple as drop my beam off put new one on and bleed?

thanks

I think it depends on whether you have abs or not, otherwise should fit with no problem
For the rear beam, I just changed one on my brother's peugeot 106 this weekend. Drop the old one off, new one on, bleed the brakes.
The problem with your swap is the upgrade to disc brakes in regards to the handbrake (different technology:)). I think you will have to change the handbrake cables also...
TIP: you might want to check out 1.4 16v or TDI discs as well. Same diameter as GTi, only 5mm thinner, and almost half cheaper (at least here)

i see...

i have abs and yea i noticed in a breakers a 16v with discs but it was bent n the crash or i would of had it lol

so your saying tdi brakes are same size just discs are thinner.... hmmm may have a look into that :D

I was thinking about doing this too; but what are the differences in performance?

My brakes are pretty shocking just now though! I wasn't sure on putting the bigger ones on, or just getting decent pads?

guys i thought i would let you know that i've got the 6n2 TDI and the brakes are abissmal. Not the most constructive advice i know but saves you wasting your time trying to find some. Also im pretty sure that they are smaller in diameter than GTI brakes.

I find the brakes on mine to be alright once they've warmed up a bit. But it takes a fair throwing around before that happens..

So maybe TDi brakes, or GTi ones with decent disks/pads?

I like the idea of bigger disks, the ones behind my wheels look gayly small.
