Hi Guys

I thought ide introduce myself ive just bought myself a 3dr 2001 6n2 1.4 8v Done 64k.

Its due for a cambelt change and a service. Which is where it comes in handy having a best friend who used to work for a VW main dealer and still very good friends with two of the technicians so that is going to be done when i come back off holiday as a bit of work on the side.

Bonnet defently needs a respray but i may get the whole front resprayed

Interior just had a good hoover. hate the mats hopefully thursday ill have a new set of genuine ones.

Had a few little problems when i got it the connector on the end of the pipe going to the rear window washer was split so more water came out the pipe than out the jet. Had a look and the joint was to far for my liking to replace the pipe. So I did a bit of a blue peter use a small piece of rubber tube and two cable ties.

Original..

Here's one i made earlier...

Im also hoping to fit a set of foglights. Ive seen them on the internet for £70 which is a used switch and grills but new fog's. Also went to the local VW dealer who wanted 250 all in. So told them to go...

Only other problem is at between 2500 and 3000 rpm there is a metallically rattle almost like a washer or braket loose which requires some futher investigation.

But this is my first car at the ripe old age of 19. I plan on going to a few VW shows any help is apprechiated on places for cheap parts especially fog lights :)

looks really good indeed!

how did you do it? took it off and sawed it?

But isn't that dangerous? Since when you have the door locked, the handle doesn't unlock it (at least in mine)

Looks like a nice clean example mate :) , be nice to see what updates you make to it in the coming months.

As for the rattle at 2.5-3K it could possibly be an exhaust bracket, I had a rattling problem with mine a few months back and it turned out to be a damaged bracket but its an easy cheap fix.

the rattle could also be a loose exhaust baffle - i had that on my gti and had to get a new centre section
