cd player / engine lag mkv polo saloon

Hey guys finally getting settled into my new car!
getting abit bored of the standard cassette player though.. (2000 model, cassette's were still being used then?)
anywho! i have a standard headunit that i used in my 306 d'urb
a few questions regarding this..
The standard cassette player has a storage place below it (about the same size as a headunit) does this mean i can put my headunit there easily?
Can the storage space be moved on top of the cassette player (i just think it'd be better to have storage above..)
if you need pics for this for it to make sense please ask!
my second option..
my friend has a standard cd player (6 or 7 cd changer in boot) from a T reg VW Bora
i would love to use this but the wiring for the cd changer goes through the car and comes out of a port in the boot..
Does anyone know if this head unit would fit?
Can i acquire the cabling to connect the head unit and cd changer separately?
i have a few other questions regarding tweeter speakers (in the front pillars behind the side mirrors) got some ex displays a while ago for a fiver lol.. probably better than the one's in but i'll update this when i have them on me because i don't know what model or dimensions they are (think they are FLI's)

Engine lag!! Argh! lol
happens mainly in first or second gear, the engine is lagging when moving (revs seem fine in neutral)
i was thinking it was the engine either being starved of fuel or air.. going to replace sparks (could be fuel not being burnt? fuel consumption doesn't seem very good) and use some reddex, it's had new HT leads and a sensor.. MAF sensor i believe.. hope im not making s**t up haha
anyone have any other idea's of what could cause this?
also do you think an ECU test would bring anything to light? im on a REAL tight budget for the moment (only start work at the end of the month..)
definatly the best car i've owned so far!
