Think my turbo's gone bang

So... looks like my turbo may have gone bang. I've got a 9n3 polo sport tdi 100pd

I've taken the inlet off and seen the cr@p caked on everywhere because of the egr valve so really need to get on and block that off or do something with it.

I've got a shed load of oil in pretty much all the pipework off of the turbo so thinking the seals may have gone :? So now may be a good time to upgrade the turbo to the pd130. If not i'll try and find another of what i have to pass the time.

So...what turbo's can i put on in place of my to replace it straight for straight swap? My engine code is AXR (i think)

Any help appreciated :)

Just given them a ring. A rebuild may look to be quite pricey and to pay that fr exactly what i used to have seems pointless.

Need to hunt down a turbo off a pd130, the turbo's are a straight swap as far as i know.

hi mate i did the same thing you did after two pd100 turbos went pop on mine, you need a pd130 turbo from either a fabia VRS, Seat Ibiza FR, or polo GT. the turbo if you find the garrette version which is the best one is called a GT1749 thats the one you need. you ll then need the pd130 turbo pipes as yours are smaller. (well i did anyway, 2006 9n3) try doing a search u mite find my thread.

Just had a look through your previous posts and managed to find it. Looks like the pd130 turbo is the way to go. Seems abit pointless getting a new turbo and not getting any extra power from it.

Seems like the clutch wont handle the extra power, an exspence i could do without to be honest. What clucth and flywheel set up ghave you got on yours now?

mine was mapped according to the old turbo but on a high map therefore i really couldnt be botherd splashing another 300 400 on a custom map that would barely give me much more bhp just smoother power. my clutch handled it fine the only thing that went on mine was the DMF (dualmass flywheel) so i converted it to a SMF (solid) and put in a clutch accordingly. the DMF is a unreliable piece of kit mapped or not.

find out if the Turbo from a Ibiza Cupra TDi PD160 fits on youre engine.
normally they are basicly the same so i think it also fits.

then you will have wicked diesel power!
a friend have had a Cupra like that,
stock on the dyno he had 182Hp instead of the quoted 160.
but after chiptuning it he had the same as any other chipped cupra, he had 201Hp.
drove 14.4sec on 1/4mile

note: the gears will be totally different as the cupra has verry short gears.

Will need alot more than the pd160 turbo though and its finding all the bits.

get the mk4 golf pd150 turbo its the same as the pd130 from outside just got bigger n better internals i believe- its still called the GT1749 they just add an A" at the end or a B" to determine the difference between the two. they bolt straight in and look at my previous post for instructions on pipework.

Been having a look around and seems the pd130/150 injectors aren't the easiest to come across.

Would there be much point in getting just the pd150 turbo and injectors and mapping it like that. Obviousely id get a panel filter and pd160 intake. But would i be pushing the standard inlet manifold and intercooler?

u dont need injectors unless your going hi power i.e. hybrid etc. if your using 130 pipework you ll need a 130 intercooler theres not much difference between them though.
get the turbo the pipework the intercooler, and the map sensor and then mapp it thats what i was going to do i still dont have the map sensor fitted but thats only necessary if i mapp it to suite the new turbo.
just an extra note the intercoolers are known to be shi*te on the 130 150 if your going for the hybrid option then go for a front mount but if your just fitting the turbo like me the 130 turbo will be fine. i have a straight through pipe from the cat onwards on mine. ( no cat ) spools up faster.

Abit short on time really so would ideally just like to fit the turbo and get it mapped.

Are you saying the pd100 inlet, injectors and smic would be sufficient to run say 150/160bhp when its mapped?
