I created a hydraulic jack attachment to savely jack the car at the front using the oem locations. Now for the axle stands, I had searched a few threads but it was not quite clear if the front suspension lower arm is the right place to support the car?

if you have a look under your car, just behind the front arch there is a small rubber circle in an indented part. Haynes says to put a piece of wood between the jacking point and your axle stand

I saw that rubber thing, but it looked so fragile. Also saw a picture of a car where the stand had gone straight through the floor

oh damn. i think thats why you need to use the wood, i had a big square piece about 10cmX10cm about 2cm thick and it was fine, had it on stands for a while when i was changing to coilies

DAMN! I was thinking about buying a an axle stand from Halfords as the next thing I wanted to do was paint the brake calipers but now I'm not confident. Anyone in the London area fancy helping me out for a small fee?

The halfords ones are ok dude, iv used them loads (the non winding/ratchet ones), you just need to make sure that its all secured properly, i painted my calipers while it was standing on a jack

May take you up on that offer dude, busy for a couple of weekends but this is really next on my list. How long does it take for the paint to dry?

i think its about an hour til its touch dry, but it says let it dry for 24hrs. the paint i used was a e-tech kit

Would I be able to drive home then if the paint takes 24hours to dry? Or just without braking!

you can use the brakes, but i think the problem is when using the brakes they heat up and the paint doesnt dry properly. its not very hard to do dude, just jack it up one side at a time paint it, put the wheel back on then do the other

Do I need anything special to get the wheels off? My friend was saying his alloys have a special nut. I didn't get anything when I brought the car.

no you dont, there should be a wheel nut wrench on the jack holder, if you don't have one, i believe you need a 17mm socket one if they are standard nuts. if u have any locking bolts on there, then you would need the key.
