polo gearbox removal

Right well seem to be spending money on this car. done all sorts to it recently. as i said in past from day one the gearbox has not been right at all. its never been smooth neither has the clutch. so my next thinking is to get a recon box and uprated clutch not just original one. not sure when gonna do this just when i got time but was woundering if anybody could help me (guidance) how to get old one out etc etc. also anybody no were to get a recon box from? in north yorkshire?

Best option is that you get a haynes manual as there are quite alot of steps involved in getting a gearbox off- invaluable for things like this and useful for other maintenance etc too

heya
yeah got a haynes manual. very helpfull cos when i bought it i had to do headgasket and timing belt. the 6n are nown for rubbish gearboxes arnt they ?
been reading loads of posts on here and alot of people remove them and get recon.

generally they only need reconning when they start to grind and the bearings become noisy

well i wouldnt say it grinds and isnt noisly well there is a slight wering noise when ya change gear but thats all.
not sure if wering noise is engine or gearbox.
if only ya could describe noise by text lol
