hey gti guys and girls im 20 next year and want to get shot of my pd100 for either a gti or jcw
just wanted some opinions of the gti i would like to take it to a good 240 bhp or just buy a jcw

gti, purely because you will be paying a fortune on a JCW at 20.

there is a big diffrence between a JCW and a Polo GTI
hard to compare...

what is youre main goal with the car?
tune it and do trackdays, or tune it and use it on daily basis...?
or don't tune it...?

tune it to 245 ish bhp either one just a daily driver for me...

GTI all the way Mini's are Ugly!

both good cars... but i would say Polo GTi also.
for the engine alone!, fantastic piece of art with alot of torque

but, a mini is cheaper to tune i quess...
a JCW can be chiptuned to 240Hp without any other mods.
but the purchase of the car is more expensive.

a Polo GTi is a bit harder to tune in a way that u need to do more.
it has a small K03s turbo wich gives good torque in lower RPM.
with only chiptuning you should get around 190 - 215Hp
and with exhaust, intercooler, airfilter, RS2 spark plugs, 4bar FPR and good custom mapping you should reach easy 230Hp to 240Hp.
it will cost alot more to get the same power as the JCW (thats what i mean, not compareable)
but with another turbo the 20VT will become a monster!
bolt on K04 will get you to 250 - 260Hp easy!
IHIVF34 or Garret GT28RS should get you right away to 300 - 350Hp with stock internals
try and get that SAFE out of the 1.6T from the JCW!!
and try to get it to run SAFE with more than 350nM

so you got to compare, purchase price + tuning, how much does it set you back for both cars.
i think it won't be much diffrence.
JCW is more expensive, polo needs a bit more help to get to 240Hp.
mind you that the GTI hase a trusty old 20VT that has proven it's capability over the years...
it's known what they can and can't handle. and they are verry strong!
1.6T from JCW is a newer engine from only a couple years old, less is known and most people don't know what they can or can't handle...
i quess, at the end, the 20VT is the stronger and more powerfull one thats provides the most fun.

after that it comes down to looks...
so, wich one you like more

turbomier thanks for the great reply but youve made it even harder lol both great cars just fancied a change even though i do love the look youve got going with your gti at the moment mate! i probably would just get a normal s but one with the jcw bodykit for £7000 its 1500 to take a cooper s from 170 to to 240 with gtt tuning hmmmm decisions decisions desicions :/

about the Cooper S VS GTI quest...
i'm honest to you, i won't say the polo is the better one, or the mini is the better one because it is a hard decision...
and every person has their own choise about what a car should be or do.
make the choise you feel good with.
this is a Polo forum so most people will say, buy a polo! it is the best!
but when you buy a GTI and afterwards you are going to get a double feeling about it, you ar not going to be happy with the car.
next you sell it and go for a mini instead. (or in reverse, sell the mini... buy a GTI...)
this way you can loose alot of money so this is what you should avoid.

so i'm not saying, buy the GTi, and i'm not saying buy the Cooper S.
both cars are verry good and both cars can be turned into amazing little machine's

ps: i do now alot more from a GTI as from a Mini (as most people on this forum)
so i sugest, check out a Mini forum to, ask there also for more info about mini's.
and ask here about info for GTi's, this way it might be easier to compare and finding what you need...

I know that you're looking at a JCW, but Mini's are common as muck now. You don't see many GTI's on the road...

I have a GTI and my mate has the Cooper s Works.

He wants the Polo.

wow thats amazing but i must admit i dont see anyone else doing this in the future the man hours and cost must have been ridiculous!!! :O
im going to sit down with the father as id like to involve him in this but i think the mini has got a certain look about it if you know what i mean oz ultraleggeras or what ever there called look wicked on the car. if i was to have a gti it would have to have the cup edition kit which is a bomb!
with the mini being supercharged does that mean it has to be revved to make it move or not so much? and finally mpg would be roughly the same wouldnt it? (awful) lol

Is that not 2 or 3 times the price of a nice polo?

Most JCW's are around 18k i thought?

would rather other cars for 18k without a doubt!
