VW Bluetooth and New Polo

Hi Guys,

Need a bit of advice. Recently purchased the wife a new Polo 3 door 1.4 SEL DSG (with some nice extras), which we won't be getting until about early April. One of the items that wasn't available was factory bluetooth. Now I've also just ordered a new Scirocco to replace my 6 year old Golf GT 2.0 TDI and this was ordered with bluetooth built in via the RCD510.

As I will be swapping the RCD510 from the Scirocco with my RNS-510 Nav unit, and putting the RCD-510 in the Polo (to replace the standard RCD310), what I wanted to know is if it's possible to add bluetooth to the car. I've found on ebay sellers offering the full kits (bluetooth unit, harness, microphone etc), but these are advertised for the Golf, Scirocco, Touran, Caddy, Tiguan etc, but they do't mention the new Polo ? (see link below:)

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... SA:GB:1123

Do you think the car would accept the kit using the OEM harnesses ? I know that with the car only having the Midline display, she wouldn't get anything up on the MFD, just the touchscreen of the RCD-510, but is there even a location overhead for the microphone like there was on the Golf / Scirocco etc ? Otherwise it would need to be a Parrot kit from her existing Polo 9N3 Sport, but would like to do it properly if possible. Oh, forgot to mention, we've ordered her car with a MFSW, so she will have the phone button on the steering wheel if that matters ?

Regards
Andrew

Hi Andrew

It might be worth looking at www.polodriver.com (see link below) because the guys buying their GTIs were fairly disgusted about lack of the option, especially as the golf and obviously scirocco too can have a RCD510 with bluetooth.

Apparently the german polo has bluetooth as an option. Sorry you'll have to go through all 236 comments but I'm sure it will be worth it

Hope this helps

Andy

Hi Andrew,

I've got a Polo GTI with a MFSW, and I had a Parrot Mki9000 fitted expertly by ConnectmyCar.com, and it works extremely well, with voice activation from my IPhone 4. I went for the simplest, so as not to distract when driving, and the small unit is fitted on one of the blanks on the row of switches above the radio and close to the steering wheel. One thing to be aware of is there is no functional control for the phone from the buttons on the steering wheel. When I enquired from VW they said the car had to be pre ordered with a mobile phone kit. When I pointed out that this was not on the options list, they went all quiet.

Right,

I've managed to get the new genuine VW 9W7 bluetooth kit ready to fit in the wife's new Polo 1.4 SEl (when it arrives). It's a full kit with module, VW genuine discreet microphone, full factory harness and the polystyrene foam holder for the module (that goes under the seat).

One thing I've only just found out is that my current genuine Ross Tech Micro-Can (USB) interface won't work with the new Polo 6R chassis !

Apparently it still uses some older K-Line modules and is therefore only accessable via the HEX-USB+CAN interface (which I don't have). I'm going to look into upgrading the interface with Ross Tech, but I assume the bluetooth package won't work without first coding with VCDS ?

Hi Andrew,

how do you find the discreet microphone, is it clear and blocks enough backround noise out or would you suggest a 3rd party mic on the A Pillar?

Cheers
