Switched live at cigarette lighter?

Right guys, slightly daft question coming up...
On my old 55 plate car, the cigarette lighter was a permanent live. I'm sure of this as I used it to source power for my retrofitted boot light which worked with the ignition off and it used to charge my sat nav when it was left plugged in.
On my 57 plate car, it's a switched live. If I turn the key to the off position, my sat nav doesn't charge. Normally, I wouldn't care, but I was planning on using the power at the cigarette lighter to power a glovebox light, as uncool as that is, and obviously don't want to use a switched live for it.
Can anyone confirm that their 57 reg onwards cars are like this, or has mine been messed with?
Thanks
