Some questions from South Africa - Polo MK2

Hi guys,
Cool forum you guys have here.
I'm a VW enthusiast from South Africa, mainly on the aircooled side of things. Have a fastback at the moment.
Anyway, I drove past this imported Polo today and seeing that it's quite cheap, I'm rather tempted to buy it because of its uniqueness as they were never officially sold here
Would look wicked on a set of widened steelies
Now I have a few questions.
1. How readily available are parts in the UK? I'm talking about lenses, windscreens etc etc and where would be the best place to buy them, bearing in mind that I would have to import everything...
2. How would I identify what size engine is fitted in there??
3. Can a Golf MK1 engine be fitted in there with no issues? What gearbox does it use??
4. What parts can interchange with Golf MK1s and 2's and other VW\Audi cars of the same era??
I'd appreciate any help I can get, as that will sway my decision on buying the car or not...
Any links to cool Mk2 Polo build threads or pics would be awesome!
regards from ZA
