Polo GTi - Idles too high

Hi,

Got a strange problem with my polo 1.8t gti, the car idles too high and the revs are slow to drop when backing off the accelerator.

Tried cleaning the MAF with isopropyl but still no joy.

Any ideas what would cause this?

Idle control valve should be your first check I would have thought

Does the 1.8t have a idle control valve? Never heard this mentioned before?

turned out to be the throttle body, the butterfly valve need to be cleaned with carb cleaner and the O2 sensor cleaned up which is part of the throttle body as well. All is well again and it pulls better than ever.
