What MK is my polo??

Hello, i am a new member but i currently dont own a polo
Still i am looking to buy in a month or so, but i could do wiv some help before i buy!
I have a little difficulty in telling what MK's polos are, the reg of the one i am looking at is Y47 GAU is this a MK5 polo?
and can n e one tell me what reg the different MK's go up in
eg. a reg to d reg is MK....
That would be great cheers guys!

Welcome (almost) to the world of polos
The Mk's are easy enough:
Mk1:
(Started as Audi 50)
1975-1981
Mk2:
1981-1990
Mk3:
1990-1994
Mk4:
1994-1999
Mk5:
1999-2002
Mk6:
2002 onwards
Hopefully I got those dates right..
I'd guess the one you're looking at is a mk5, enjoy it

ahhhhhh i did wonder about the 6n2, wot does that stand for then?
Havent bought one yet, undecided between a MATCH and a 1.4s...

Yeah, you can replace mk4 --> mk6 with 6n, 6n2 and 9n. I don't think it actually stands for anything, it's just vw's code names for the cars.

nice of them to confuse things, is there n e websites wiv information on the mk5 polo's, ive tried google but as ussual s**t came up?
I bet u lot hate people wiv little or no knowlege on polo's, i am knowlegeable on saxo's tho!

You wont be hated on here for not knowing much about the gorgeous polo. I know bugger all about it but so far people have been incredibley helpfull and nice
