Yesterday I was driving through town when my clutch decided it wanted to stay on the floor. The night before I was driving up to the city and the gearbox started whinning which I have been told is a bearing inside the gear box? I just wanted to know why my clutch is staying on the floor and am I looking at buying a new gearbox and clutch?
thanks in advance for any help.

I have looking into the situation further and found out it was my pedal box. I hear this is a common problem? I picked one up from my local scrap yard. They are hard to replace.

shouldn't be too technical to replace just a little tight for space. the gearbox on my mk2 golf started wining and it turned out to be the bearing on the input shaft of the gearbox. mine was quiet when the clutch was in and when i let the clutch out the noise started
