It's not the cleverest thing to do (allows hot air from engine bay into the air box) but as long as you drill the dirty side of the air filter rather than the clean side you get what you want induction noise wise
Better would be a BDA or similar but lots of cash

I have a 1.0l so.. I'm not sure whether it'll damage it that much? You still think it's not worth it?

Itll cause heat soak and will reduce the economy and performance of your engine - it really isnt worth it.

I've done it on the wheel arch side of the air box on my A4 (and I don't have arch liners any more due to my big wheels).
It sounds better... Sounds faster lol!
But my K&N needs cleaning more often.

I want that induction sound swell but don't know which is the best way to do it. I'm leaning towards just a replacement k&n sports filter for my airbox they say it's better than a cone filter but is it really? Also anyone know what the second pipe that goes into the air box is? And if I were to get a cone filter what to do with it?

Shakes head
Want induction noise
fit these
Nothing else come close - sorry
Last time I had it exhaust noise tested at a trackday - tester said "104.5 Db so I was OK" He then added but if "I put my meter at the front you'll never make it chap"

the four hoursmen of the apocolypse make a quieter entrance than the Monza does
