1.9tdi tuning advice

Post by johnnytheboy »

Well it looks like our work is going to stick it right up us and give me a Nissan Micra as a company car, so its time for me to opt out and sort my own car.

I need a car for running up and down the motorway to work as cheap as possible, but since i work in the motor trade maybe something I could keep looking stock but put a few upgrades onto, just for some motorway fun!!!

The 1.9tdi polo sounds like it has potential, polos are great I have driven them for the past 10 years, and if there was one thing we learned is the best thing for moving a car is cc, so at 1.9, its bound to shift the wee thing along even as standard.

So are the 1.9tdi polos a good platform to start tuning up?? what is sort of engine mods could be carried out at a reasonable price/time?

With engine mods obviously go braking mods, is there parts that could be robbed off of golfs etc that would bolt onto the polo 1.9tdi or are they pretty good as stock??

you will be able to get info on here BUT i suggest you join the briskoda forum as alot of the fabia owners modify there tdi's from 100's to vrs's
FMIC (forge, seat sport)
Turbo back exhaust
uprated pd130 turbo from a golf theres other cars you can rob them off too not 100% sure on which ones
custom remap

should see you a reliable 175 bhp quite easily at the fly...

more people will elaborate on this for you mate...

If you got a polo gt pd130 and map it 170hp
exhaust, intercooler, stage 2 hybrid turbo from turbo dynamics 220hp after that you have to look at new injectors head work and turbo off the 3.0 Tdi q7

Chris? He's getting (got) rid of it now and doing a Mk2 TDI transplant.

Had a go in it at the TDIclub dyno day last year and it went alright with 4 passengers in it  Was supposed to be going up to 'Boro to have a gander at the Mk2 build, but got tied up with work.

Ash :)
