While changing some light bulbs today, I spotted a possible dangerous problem;
What is that white container?
Also, the level is low of whatever it contains

Is that something I can buy at a petrol station?
And are there several types?

Yeh it is a coolant reservoir
Best is to nip down your local dealer and buy a lite of G12, dont think they are very expensive.

If it's just dipping below minimum, just top it up with water.

Just for future reference, the handbook recomends to top it up with clean water as a temporary measure if suitable coolant is not available
EDIT:: Ah Tim just beat me to it!

Always wondered that myself

Only left-hand-drive polo gti's have them?

That is interesting.
Part number is kind of visible so some clever person may be able to look it up and see what it is. Looks like its going into the car.
It looks like its going into the bulkhead so may be something to do with the heater matrix or A/C which has to be in a different place on RHD due to the steering wheel and pedals being on that side.
