Lowering Dilemma - Eibach or VW Racing

Hi,

I recently took delivery of my VW Polo GTi and I'm now thinking about fitting lowering springs to sharpen the handling a little and improve the aesthetics.

The dilemma I have is whether to go for the Eibach Pro Kit option which lowers by around 15mm or the VW Racing option which I guess is about 15-20mm. The car probably won't be tracked, so keeping the usability of the car (i.e. not grounding out over speed bumps, etc) is important and nor would I want to wreck the ride.

I'm not looking for coilovers, so grateful for people's thoughts and opinions on Eibach or VW Racing springs for the car.

Change the tyres to Advan AD08 or B.S RE-11 and you will immd feel your steering comes to life and able to feel the road better.

I think if you go to VW racing this may not invalidate your warranty or there is some add on I seem to remember reading about, but I might have imagined it :? Blaade should know the answer as I think there are VW racing springs on his GTI?

This is really helpful thanks. I'd certainly be keen to try and keep some form of warrenty if possible, so its another tick in the box for VW Racing. The only other car I've lowered was a Mini Cooper JCW which has the JCW springs and dampers fitted, so never had to worry if anything went wrong.

I heard that VW Racing are fundementally KW springs. I appricate that everyone has their own preferences, but I'd be interested to hear opinions and experiences of KW springs - durability, ride, handling improvement, etc...

Regarding tyres, I had already given them some thought, but given the car sits pretty high for a GTi, I thought springs first, tyres later. Will probably opt for Conti Sport Contact 3's when I do ans they seem to be a great all rounder.

In regards to suspension, you cant really get much better than KW, especially with a Vw. If you're after predominantly better handling, look at a rear swaybar first, you won't really feel the difference until you notice your corner speeds:) the lowering aspect, yeah, you have to go with the springs...

Give Matt Walker a ring at VW racing. He will be able to advise you.
