All-red GTI badge seen on Polo

Hey guys,

Was at No-Rice in Guildford on Wednesday, and saw a nice-looking red Polo GTI with all-red GTI badges on the front and back (instead of the usual silver/silver/red).

I couldn't find the guy to ask where he got them from - anyone know? Would love a set for my Lupo GTI. All I've been able to find is the US 25th anniversary golf badges, which are all red but use the old-style GTI font, and don't look as good.

Anyone know where he might have got his badges from, or have the same ones?

If you do a search on worldwide things available to the UK on ebay there are sometimes some in Germany for sale for a few quid!

I seem to remember from my Issue 1 of Volkswagen Driver magazine, (Which has a review of the then NEW Polo GTi) that the pictures they showed of the V-reg red test car had the GTi lettering all in red. Both front and rear lettering was in red.

I suspect that it was something that changed from the post production to the production series.

There's also another article in one of last years issues which looks at how the car had gone 3 years after release...Both pretty good articles.

Yeah, the all-red GTI badge only appeared on the early models of the Polo GTI. Unfortunately VW don't make the badge any more so you can't even order one from the dealer. Your best bet is Ebay or if you are lucky enough to find one in a salvage yard.

I thought that the all-red badging on GTi's was reserved solely for euro-spec cars, ie. germany, netherlands and so on...? At one point a while ago I'd found some pics on a german website with the red badges, I might have read something about it there

I agree with carmadaaron btw, ebay is the best bet!

i've got a copy of the 2001 model year broucure for the polo and all the pics of the gti in there have red badges.
