Sounds like dirty MAF. Are you running an oiled cone filter on it?

Is this a constant fault or a single fault that went away?

Sounds simple but have you tried clearing the faults and seeing if they come up again when you rescan? I had 4 intermittents when I got my car, cleared them and they've never returned. In a similar fashion, my tyre warning system went haywire once while on the motorway. Started beeping like mad but the tyres were all fine. Reset the system and cleared the fault from VCDS and the problem's never come back. Sometimes the car's just having a bad day and needs to let off steam lol

Load signal problem, have you checked the load signal wiring, if this is starting to break, then it might just be the cause of the indicated steering problem (alternator o/p lowish > battery now not fully charged) - just a thought!
