Burst tyre, no puncture!

Hey
My partner was driving our polo the other day when he felt the steering go all funny, got out and had a flat rear driver side tyre! He left it and got the spare on it the next day. We took it to our local tyre garage and were told they couldn't see any puncture or anything that would cause it too deflate. But because the tyre was slightly driven on it ruined the inside so the tyre is buggered. We phoned Volkswagen because according to their website all new cars come with 6 month tyre and brake warranty, we were told to bring in the tyre and they have to send it off to handkook and put a claim in so we can get our money back on our new tyre (£60).
The cars done 3225 miles and only had it 4 months!
Another funny thing is when my partner was driving to pick me up yesterday he noticed 2 brand new polos, both with their spare wheel on ... both on the rear passenger side.
Has anyone had any experiences like this?!?
