Hi guys,
Was driving home yesturday from work, had the DSG set in manual. Had been driving proberbly around 20 mins or so nice and steady. Then came to a crossing so had to come to a stop. As it was slowing down, the car seemed to juder a bit, felt really lumpy for a second or two. Then, as i went to set of again (still in manual), nothing happened. No power, revs hardly moved and engine just juddering. Switched over to Drive, still nothing. Thought oh s**t. So then put it into park, then back down to drive and all was fine

Soo, first problem ive encounterd now, worrying if it will do it again. No idea what happened. Anyone else had anything similar happen? Im wondering whether or not to report it to VW? what do you guys think. Cheers Nathan

I use to have a similar problem with my Smart fortwo, it had the flappy paddles to change gears and when i was coming upto a round-a-bout or something and i would manually come down gears the whole car would judder, us Smarties called it "Bunny hopping". It would sometimes not go into the right gear so i clicked it into N and back and was fine. Its just a case of jiggerypokery with the gears. But if it carries on the defiantly take it back to VW

Will do matey. Im kind of hope it never does it again

Does anyone else with DSG ever notice like a strange engaging noise when setting off from starting the engine, but once its done it, never does it again until you switch engine off and start again. Technician at vw told me at first the DSG box should be completly silent, but then went for a road test and it made the noise which i pointed out and he said this was standard for a DSG box

lol

The exact same thing happened to mine, complete loss of drive, its happened on two occasions.
Its been in to VW and apparently the same things happened to thier Demonstrator.
Apparently the Spark plugs are the cause and VW have released a service bulletin ....
Mine is going back in monday to have a new set fitted, whether or not these are modified in anyway im not sure.

I have not heard of these problems before nor had anything like it or any problem with the 3 cars I have had with DSG.

It has only ever done it once on mine though. But to be quite honest, im struggling to see a conection between not having any drive, and the fault being spark plugs? Sounds like thats just a cover up from vw. How would switching from drive to park fix the problem if it was spark plugs?? Ive booked mine in to have all sorts sorted and they sed there gonna have a look over the box.

Pretty sure you have posted in my thread on this very subject and said something very similar and boring.
OP, check my post history or search on YouTube for 'Polo GTI DSG fault' and drop me a line.

might be worth looking into problems with DSG across all VWs
i know the MkV golfs can have problems with the mechatronics(spelling?) My boyfriend works for VW and was aware of this. so as soon as the DSG on his Golf ed30 started playing up he got them to change it under warrenty. that caused the car to judder. was like it was confused as to what it wanted to be doing. what gear it wanted to be in and such. not sure if this poblem still happens in manual or not, or if it will even happen in the newer-er VWs (VW may have sorted that by now from factory) but it might be worth having a look into, just to shed some light on it if you worried.
