fitting a gti steering wheel with buttons

i thinking on fitting the gti flat bed steering wheel to my 1.2 70ps polo, just wanted to know if any body has changed this and if i would need to tell my insurance company

Not sure anyones actually done this yet. My wifes got an SEL with the MFSW and it's only got the the buttons on the left hand side (the audio side). It doesn't have the ones on the right as these control the highline dash computer display, which AFAIK, is only currently fitted to the GTI models, so I'm not sure if they would even code ?

As for telling your insurance, absolutely a must. However some may only class this as a cosmetic upgrade and not charge you (for instance Aviva didn't charge me to upgrade my Standard MK5 Golf GT wheel to the flat bottom GTI one), but I had to tell them. Failing to do that will give the insurance company all the ammunition they need to default on paying a claim if it's found that parts are fitted and not declared.
