Looking to buy a full brake up grade and the brakes are off a golf gti mkV and the guy I am buying from buys written off cars and salvages what he can. They are in great condition and are an absolute bargain. I am sure they will be a 5x100 fitment which is a straight fit for me but I want to double check? Thanks

So will have to get some 5x100-5x112 adaptors then or buy some new discs?

MK5 GTI is indeed 5x112.
so you will need adaptors or discs, but why would you change the discs?

Thought so after doing a bit more Research! Well I would need new discs cos I would want drilled and grooved ones and my current wheels are 5x100 and don't want to change them! Also the discs
The guy the is selling are a bit rusty around the edges and want some new shinier ones :D

ok... looks good i guess.
beware with drilled discs, they can somethimes crack between the drillholes.

Oh really? I will be gentle with them! I just need bigger brakes because I drive fairly briskly and just need more stopping power!

if it intrests you...
my new set of brakes will be Tarox G88 discs, these are grooved, not drilled as this is not needed.
in use with dot 5.1 brake oil, steel brakelines, ferrodo DS2500 brakepads.
just on standard size, more then enough to smash youre face against the front window
bigger brakes will always be better with the same set up, but if i go bigger i don't put TT brakes on it.
the diffrence is to litlle, i'll go for AP-Racing, Brembo, willwood or stoptech.

i use my car as well on the streets and on the track, even got a hillclimb coming up.
so i'm pretty sure standard size is more than enough if you use good discs etc...
