GT Rev counter into 1.3CL dashboard?

Can you fit a GT rev counter into the CL dash? Or do you need to change the whole instrument binnacle and swap the tacho? The DIY guide mentions changing the whole binnacle for a GT one, and this German site shows the same:

I was kinda hoping since I'm only getting the rev counter that it is possible. I was thinking that if you removed the electronics with the fuel gauge and clock on and swapped them for the GT items you might be able to do it?

The easiest way to do this is to get the whole GT instrument cluster and swap your speedo into it. It's held on by 4 screws from what I can remember.
It's simpler than messing with the rev counter, and that would require removing the whole lot anyway.

you need to keep your milometer anyhows, so your going to have to open the casing up either way.
Ill take some pictures if you want, the number of times they've been in and out when ive changed everything it take like 20seconds now, and you can do it without takin the wheel, even if it is a bit of a squeeze.

Right, so I have the rev counter, it will fit into the space for my analogue clock, but can I wire the thing up so it functions as a rev counter and not a clock?

I'm guessing the circuitry is entirely different. If no one can suggest anything I'm either keeping it as a spare, or selling it on.
Over to you very helpfull people.

It won't fit your CL clocks, the circuit board inside is different. Fit the entire Genesis/GT/G40 clock pod and keep your rev counter as a spare.
Problem is that everybody wants them. I've sold 3 sets in as many weeks

Are you meaning the mark2 your working on? I'm not sure about how to wire the mark3 plug onto the mark2 loom, but regarding just fitting them into a mark3, its a simple case of plug and play. It would appear that all Polos have the relevant senders to operate a GT dash.

really? thats cool, maybe theres a hooge off chance that the mk2 does to. nah...i doubt it as well. maybe ill try and trace the wiring and sender of the mk3 and see where the end up.
thanks
