Anyone have any idea the weight difference between the 6R Polo GTI 3DR, 5DR and the weight of the optional sunroof?

My hunch tells me the lightest is the 3DR and the heaviest is the 5DR with Sunroof.

3dr Polo GTI has a kerb weight of 1269kg. This includes a 90% full fuel tank (40.5ltr out of the 45ltr tank), the driver at 68kg and luggage at 7kg. The 5dr adds 25kg.

The above figures are taken out of the official VW Polo brochure.

So the base weight of a 3dr without the driver, luggage and only half a tank of fuel would come in at approx 1180kg. and so the 5dr would be 1205kg.

There are no figures for the weight of the sunroof, however I'd suspect that with the extra metal, glass and motors it would be well over 10kg extra and also it is high up on the car so would affect the centre of gravity too.

Hmmm, your UK polos must have ballast in them because here, the 3door and 5 door are listed as an identical weight, confirmed by a motoring magazine over here too.

Yes, the sunroof adds approx and extra 15-17 kgs.

They maybe listed as the same weight, but I'd lay odds that the 5dr is heavier by 25kg

They must be adding ballast to your 3dr cars over there to make them the same as the 5dr ones. All that extra strengthening in the 5dr ones for the B pillar to take the extra bracket/door weight and the extra electronics, window motors etc.

Yeah maybe, but that would mean that they're upping the tune on the 5 doors to compensate seeing as test figures are showing identical times

Woot, I might already have a tuned car from the factory! :) The doors on the 3 door are quite large though so there would potentially be more reinforcing in the A pillar to carry the extra weight of the door....

Good info guys! Lets just confirm the Sunroof adds around 15kg and assume the extra 2 door another 15kg since other models of hatchbacks 3/5dr has around this difference. Untill someone comes back with actual weight on the corner weights.
