REVO SPS Switch- Worth it?

Being 19, trying to insure a Stage 2 GTI is already pretty tough without the cost of petrol on top! Looked at these SPS switches and was wondering if anyone on here had/has one and wondered what there experiences were like with them? Would only use it when driving long journeys etc because combined with cruise control I would be looking at 40mpg instead of 32.5mpg at 65mph right now. I only really use the 240BHP when cruising with mates and on special occasions so please let me know what they are like etc. Thanks

Worrying about fuel already. Oh dear. I have been driving a vr6 for the last 6weeks or so 25mpg is a lot less than the 60mpg from my polo but I can't complain cos that noise is unreal. And addictive. Anyway my point is you bought a gti so fuel should be the last bit on your mind (or have you still got diesel syndrome)

I knew I was going to get a comment like that. To be honest I haven't driven it much just at weekends when I have been free. Probs only feeling this way about the fuel because I haven't be driving very efficient;y hahaha

GTI's are not designed to be "driven efficiently" having a diesel i know how you feel just make it your weekend car other wise be £80 a week to run

i can and do easily spend £50 per weekend in petrol just because i love to put my foot down

i'm sure we all would love to save money in petrol but SPS is not the way as the stock map has higher MPG.

Just my opinion

REVO SPS essentially just takes the map off leavig the standard map on, great if its under warrenty and you dont want them to know. but I would imagine with mods like FMIC and no cat etc it would run like c**p on the standard map.

I had one on mine and used it once as i got a higher mpg mapped than I did standard. That was stage 1 though. my advice would be give it a few months to let the novelty of flying down every road wear off a bit and then re assess petrol situation.

Look at it this way 32mpg on motorway for a 240bhp car is actually quite economical. My mates M3 does around 20mpg at the best of times. its just going from a deisel to a petrol will be a curve in your fuel bills :)
