Gearbox 4th gear feels like 5th... HELP???

Hi, ive just bought a polo 6n2 GTI. On the long drive home after buying the car i noticed 4th and 5th feel exactly the same... no drop or increase in revs between changes. It had the gear box refurbished 6 months ago. Is it possible for them to have put two 5th gears in the box? both 4th and 5th have the same top speeds. Any help or information would be great.
