UK-POLOS.NET - THE VW Polo Forum

Bought a K&N panel filter for my car at gti international, now trying to fit it. I'm no stranger to VWs and have done much service work on Mk2, 3, and 4 golfs, but for the life of me can't figure out how to open the airbox on my 1.4TDi polo5... anyone got any ideas?

Also, has anyone heard of a company called Tuneit who make plugin fuel injection mapping modules for turbo diesels. They had a stand at gti international and sounded pretty interesting.

For example, they claim that for my polo their module boosts power from 75bhp to 90bhp, and a similar increase in torque, along with increased efficiency. No further engine mods... sounds amazing! anyone come across these before?

i have a 1.4 tdi as well. i have seen the tuning boxes but am sceptical about them. they seem too good to be true.

check out http://www.tdiclub.com/ and look in the faq there is loads of stuff on mods.

have you come across a exhaust specialist who do off the shelf back boxes for the tdi? i have checked out scorpian etc and they only list petrol ones.

cheers for the reply. I went and had a look at the tdiclub website - some interesting info. I was a little disappointed to hear that a K&N filter makes little or no difference to the TDi's performance - oh well. Maybe it'll just sound throatier.

They were pretty convincing when I spoke to them, and if I had ~£400 to spare i probably would have bought one. They do a money back guarantee i think.

I haven't looked at changing the exhaust for my tdi yet - but i imagine there are probably quite a few companies who do replacement ones. Have you tried German Car Company? They're pretty good - but i can't find their website at the mo. Will try and find it and post it a bit later.

Have you ever had a look at the airbox in your tdi? Let me know if you can figure out how it opens - it seems pretty far from obvious to me!!

have you tried ringing the vw garage about the airbox. if you get a decent service chap he might even open it for you if you take it in.

but £511 and it isnt easy to remove so if you crash and havent declared it....
