Debadging?

I want to remove the tired looking Coupe badge from my car, and delete the CL off the Polo_CL badge.
Am I right to think that the Coupe badge is glued on?
Also is the Polo badge secured using lugs or glue?
How do you remove the badges, or best ways to remove them?
And whats the best way to remove the gluey remains from bodywork?
Thanks.
Karl.

The Catalyst and coupe badges are glued on. The Polo_CL badge is also glued on and also held in with the aid of lugs. You can get a badge that just says polo off a newer car, Theryre all interchangeable. Just use hoy water. this should unstick the glue type stuff.

The Polo CL badge is held on by lugs under the lo_CL part of the badge. You'll need a new style badge to lose the CL bit.

Going back to this subject, I have seen a German Mark3 with a Mark4 POLO badge on it. The only way it looks achievable is if you removed the Mark3 badge, smoothed it over (to delete the lug holes) and then stuck the Mark4 badge over.

Don't the MK4 badges have lug holes in them then?

The Mark4 badges are adhesive. I don't think they have any lugs on them. They are the ones that look like this

maybe they just stuck it over the lug holes?
for the stick-on badges...

The stick on badges (coupe and catalyst) can be easily removed using a bit of thin string (eg. the stuff you get on cheap kites).
Just start at one end, hook the string under the badge and pull it through to the other end. It leaves a patch of adhesive on the car, but that's easily removed with a bit of T-cut.
I reckon thats better than risking paint damage trying to lever the things off, or messing about with heat guns.

Whats the best way to get the rear VW badge off to change it? Just remove the plastic cover that covers the wiper motor, find the lugs and push it out?

Flat bladed screwdriver pops it out.
