Polo 1.2E (55PS) - 2003 [Ocassional Loss of Power]

Hello, I hope somwbody can help please?

My Polo has done around 5500m. It belongs to my wife who has mentioned in the past that ocassionally for several mins or so it seems to lose power and unwilling to accelerate quickly (okay, no jokes..;).
I happen to use it yesterday and experienced it, almost pulling back and seemed like it was firing only on two and not three cylinders, although no back firing or spluttering. It lasted for the last 7 miles of a 15mile trip. This morning again, its fine

I've got it booked in for the 7th June which isnt in time for a planned long trip this weekend.

Does anyone know where the Air Mass Meter is located? (I've read in VW Driver Magazine that this might be the cause? and sometimes a prob may be solved by simply disconecting/reconnecting the plug - BUT I don't know where it is? (I think maybe under the large plastic cover but without an available workshop manual I don't know how to remove it...

Thanks

hello clinares, welcome to the forum! :D

first of all, your wifes polo is a MK6 and this is a MK5 section of the Polo forum. Post again in the section MK6 (just below this one) as MK6 owners may have experienced this.

Sorry but no help at all wit your problem!

Cheers

A similar problem has been happening my 1.0l mk5. Its doesn't last long but it is a bit scarey. Sometimes when taking off from a stand still all power goes and there is nothing left. it will usually pick up again in a few seconds but this is could be dangerous when pulling out in front of cars. The car does need a service but maybe it'll come out of it after that but it's there could be somthin else wrong. It seems likes its a problem with the fuel pump or somthin but thats only a guess
