Hey guys
The driver side door lock yesterday broke as i cudnt lock the door from the driver side, the key jus goes in but doesnt do anything!! so i took of the door card and investigated the lock.
Turns out that the little 'turning thing' that make the door lock has snapped from both sides.
the car does lock from the inside however.
ANy ideas where i can get a replacement for this?
Cheers

if you can get a part number from it, try asking martin in the vagparts section at the bottom of the main forum!

I had to replace the door lock on the wifes Seat Arosa. Its basically the same lock and it cost £55 + VAT from my local VW/Seat dealer. Please note that I had an additional key with the lock. ( to get a lock made up to use your original key is more expensive again)

if you dont have a lock made to fit your existing lock that means that the lock will be different to all the others so you will have to carry to keys with you one for each type of lock!

I hate non matching keys - Try asking for a complete lock set
On my Vauxhalls I've often replaced complete lock sets and they are normally £45 for the set - 2 door locks, boot, ign and glovebox
But then again they aren't "coded" so maybe thats why they are cheap but I'm sure if you asked the price for a set would be about a tenner more than a single one. And you get two new key the same and no hassles with which key does what?

You can buy a kit to repair the lock from VW about £5, what is broken is the shaft that connects the rear of the door barrel to the lock mechanism.
You have to remove the outside door handle, once removed normally you have to replace the connecting rod and a small round part that has 3 prongs.
Make sure you remember where the parts are located as it makes it much easier to re assemble.
It is a tricky job so if you can slip a VW mechanic a drink to assemble it may save you a lot of stress.
I have done hundreds.
