machine polishing

i have acquired a machine polisher but i know in the wrong hands there a professional sprayers best friend as there not easy to use and you can ruin your paintwork quite easily
is there any do's or donts ? as i have never used one before, what products would you use with it without spending hundreds?,
any advise will help

i dont know much either but what i do know is that my dad uses this polish called G3 cuttiong compound, its some real good stuff as his project vw t25 has come out pretty shiny, about the machiene im not to sure he uses a anglegrinder with a sponge head but i think hes boring one of his mate noww.

A machine polisher is a dangerous thing in the wrong hands.
Take a look at this excellent write up.

My advice would be don't just jump in and start using it, think very carefully about what you are doing and why you are doing it. Does you're car require paint correction?

Ah thanks mate, no there is no correctional paintwork needed, I'm determined to get a spare body pannel and test it out. But no doubt il have questions. So
