I've had my 9n for a couple of weeks now...
this is my first vw and i am still beside myself with the car haha

after selling my pug 206 i bought this polo sport 1.4..

i think this is the 100bhp edition, it feels like it and research says it is but still not 100% sure!

Image

really want that sweet euro look with this car

to my knowledge this car is:

100bhp
factory lowered 40mm, (somebody tell me if this is true)
elec windows
elec mirrors
climatronic climate control
central locking

My intentions for the car (near future)

de letter
colour code badges black
de wiper (maybe)
sub and amp
interior lighting
angel eyes (i want HIDs but i'm not inconsidorate so i'll get the projectors instaed of having them with the reflectors)
pressed plates but i have had trouble with the plod in the past!

i'm on a small budget for this car until i get a job...

intentions for when i have a job:

coilovers
want some tt comps or porche twists
maybe votex kit
if not front splitter

if you have any recommendations please tell me!

few more pictures of the car, dirty because of the damn snow and salt :(

cant wait for the weather to clear up so i can pamper her :)

Hello and welcome! I can't see the photos at the moment probably because I'm on my mobile, but I believe a sport 100bhp has the badge '16v', whereas the others will have '1.4' or 'fsi', and have 75bhp and 86bhp respectively.

As for pressed plates, they're fine as long as the font and letter spacing complies with regulations, and unlike 'show plates', you need to show them your v5 when having them made. Dubmeister do the UK road legal ones! I'm looking at getting some soon :D

Pressed plates are legal in the uk as long as they comply with uk laws. It must have the postcode of the company somewhere that made them, uk spec for letters/numbers (my mate got his balls kicked for having 'french' plates on his clio, only difference was the number 4 - uk being the 4 you see here, and the french style missing part of the vertcle line (like a half 4) you must provide 2 forms of id now no matter where you get them (drivers license or passport and V5c etc)

I dunno I just thought the Police pulling me over and saying they were not legal was a bit of a give away? They told me that the gel pressed ones were legal because they don't tarnish and create a reflective surface. The expression baby out of the bath water springs to mind here. Was only giving my thoughts on the pressed plates. I didn't realise I was speaking against the pressed plate authorities.

I'm sorry. :|

I have the ebay pressed plates, with all the correct markings and following the legal spec. I've never been pulled and the car sailed through its MOT with them on.

i bought pressed plates from ebay for my 206, it sailed through the m.o.t but thepolice pulled me a couple of times because 'they were not reflective enough' because they only reflected when light was projected from a different angle...

all bul*$&% if you ask me!

the gel resin ones? do they have the metal look??

also what are all of your opinions on plate surrouns, cheers for the feedback

Got my plates from europl8 but when they were at edition 38. Was annoyed as i didnt have documents but my mate just said go and try and what would you know, £35 later with no docs I had some pressed plates. Completely legal too.
Yer i heard it was important to have the postcode of manufacturer and that the font is english standard.

Never ahd a problem with mine on the road or at MOT

The gel resin plates look very similar to the metal pressed ones in my opinion!
