Hi all,

Just found out today, the price of G40 TCA's has dropped in price!

Were £130 each, now £70 each :)

This works out to £140 the pair.

Now, if you buy the the standard Mk3 TCA's and the full Powerflex bush kit
it will set you back about £130. Obviously, if you want the Powerfex anti-roll bar bushes on the G40 TCA's the price gets a bit higher still.

Anyone got any opinions on which is the best route to take?

It's up to you, really. If you want G40 tca's and powerflex outer and arb bushes it might be pricey. If you go for normal polo ones with full powerflex it will be cheaper. Either should see a nice improvement in handling.

go to google and type "polyurethane bushes"
The 2nd result that comes up has real cheap prices. Im gonna try them for my arb bushes :)

Interesting, superflex bushes for the ARB =£35.

The same bushes made by powerflex =£55.

I've also decided to go for the G40 tca's, those lovely spherical joints clinched the deal!

Im a bit stupid when it comes to the names of things, especially on polo as im used to mk2 golfs. whats the Track control arm? is it the arm that screws in and out to allow the adjustment of the tracking?

No, it's arm that suspension is based on. Mk 3 Polo's don't have wishbones (like mk2 golfs), they have tca's instead.

As we're talking tca's & Just as a bit of useful information.

I've recently found out, that although VW states there is no camber & caster adjustment on the Mk 3 (poss applies to Mk 2 also). You can adjust chamber a small amount, by slotting the tca mounting bolt hole on the bracket by a max of 21mm!

You also have to fit a modified bush which has a serrated inner sleeve ( to grip the mounting bracket). The part is still listed on ETKA, dunno how available it is tho..... if anyone is interested, I can find out Tuesday?

The reason I came across this info, is I'm going to be fitting coil-overs to my 40 in the next two or three weeks, so this might come in handy......

Is that the bar that attaches the hub/suspension assembly to the frame of the car? (sorta H shaped bit that the arb terminates into). I think I need to do my bushes as the drivers wheel sits a little further back in the arch than the passenger side :? :(

TransAutosport (TAS) can do you camber adjustable track control arms if you want.

Or AW Tracksport do camber and castor adjustable wishbones for £400.

Another racers trick is to turn down the diameter of the ARB ends that slide into TCA by a length of 30mm, and use washers as spacers. This enables you to adjust castor forward which improves handling on MK3 polos massively.

Polo's run -50mins of camber as standard. I run -2.5- -3deg camber on mine when on track.

Thanks for that.

I'll give TAS a call tomorrow :D

Whats the name of the one that attatches to the suspension further up? It goes into the centre of the car, mines bent  (I assume its meant to be straight as the passenger side is).
This explains the wheel sitting further back in the arch and scrubbing on the rear! :o How much are they?

That's the steering tie rod. The drivers side is meant to be curved at the end, the passengers should be straight.

yeh, looked in a book at a parts place and its meant to be bent.
It must be the bushes, they are squidgy as anything. Ordered the arb ones and arb to lower arm ones from superflex earlier, they dont do the arm to chassis ones yet though :( Or bumpstops.

So I now gotta get those ones and the bumpstops from powerflex and pay silly prices for postage from wherever I get them from :x I don't have the metal joints at the chassis-->lower arm, they're rubber like at the other end of the arm-->arb :?

Is there any other poly bush companies? I don't fancy paying £60 odd for 4 bumpstops and 2 bushes (or has anyone got any for sale? )
