hi i hope someone can help me as i dont know what else to do. my polo idels at around 1000rpm as soon as you start it up it sounds like your reving the engine up and down but yet no where near the gas peddel. when garges have had alook at it the have either turned us away or told us they dont know what is wrong with it. when a garage finally looked at it and pluged it in the computer told them the egr valve was faulty. he replaced the egr valve and all seemed fine for about two weeks when then one day it started playing up again. now its failed it mot on emmisions and they have said the egr valve is faulty but this has just been replaced i have changed the air filters but that has still made no diffrence . can anybody please help thanks .

Maybe the valve fitted was faulty. It can happen. Also if u have it plugged in to the vagcom computer u can run a test on the exhaust electrical system. So it may b one of the O2 sensors.

I had a similar fault and it turned out to b a loose wire on the O2 sensor.
