mk5 lights for mk4?

hi guys, in january this year i bought a 99'V polo16v in deep met blue 20k after owning a number of golfs, (featured in pvw & the golf in oct'03)
anyways - does anyone know if actual polo 6n2 rear lights will fit straight onto a 6n?

Right then, a short answer: Yes. Definitely.
However; you need to sort out the wires to make them function properly. Also, they'll stick out a mile. I.e. they sit proud of the boot lid.
The latter can be fixed by sanding down the rear of the units, trying them on to see where they need sanding, sand/grind some more, trying them on, etc ad infinitum.
It takes some time, but you can make them sit perfectly. Mines aren't 100% but I lost motivation after a few hours.

looks good tho! but aftermarket 1s for 6n will be less hassle..
