9n3 removing colour body part?

Post by rasA4 »

hi all i need to remove the front bumper strip to send off to get a exact colour match for a body panel rather than from the paint code.

can this be removed without damaging it? or is it one piece
are there any other smaller parts that can be removed to match the colour?

thanks all

Wing mirrors? Or take your car to the bodyshop and there match the colour with a chart..

I'm pretty sure the front bumper is one piece.. As my gti bumper is off and it's one piece

That small segment in the photo is a coloured plastic cap that goes over the lock barrel of the door. You could use that, provided that you refit the locking barrel. Remove the rubber grommet in the door at the same level, and there's a Torx screw deep in the door that secures it. Slowly loosen it and keep trying to wiggle it free with the handle part pulled out, it can be a bit stiff so be careful. The screw doesn't need to be removed to get it out, if it falls out then its a huge effort involved to find it in the door and put it all back together.

I always thought that the bump strips were clipped on? Should just come off with a trim removal tool or similar?
